The Challenge of Religion in History

A discussion

A fascinating topic that came up at this year's AHA meeting in Boston was that of the challenge of religion in the context of history. The issue revolved around the perception from many historians that religion is not an important factor to consider in society and history and that in some way the study of religious history is less important than other areas. Historians TV discussed this with Carlos Eire of Yale University and Susannah Heschel from Dartmouth College.
